With its inventive photography, bold design, and conversation-starting features, W offers a unique and intelligent alternative to mainstream fashion titles.
To help us continue to grow our audience and expand our brand even further, we’re looking for an experienced Features Editor to pitch, assign, write and edit W’s longform storytelling. Candidates should have experience and sharp instincts writing, assigning and editing a range of features, from cultural profiles to complex narratives.
Candidates should come with deep connections with a diverse group of freelance writers, and enthusiasm for pitching new and ambitious ideas across print and digital platforms. Candidates should also be comfortable working across multiple timelines—capable of simultaneously developing stories for tomorrow, next week, and next year, in a multitude of formats.
This role reports into the Executive Editor.

Responsibilities include:

  • Write, assign and edit print stories, digital-first long-form features, and more
  • Lead story conception and execution, including developing staff and freelance pitches and working closely with publicists and visuals teams
  • Work closely with production and senior editorial team to program print issues
  • Work closely with Executive Digital Director to develop and edit the most ambitious digital-first projects
  • Shepherd print stories through the editing process, including liaising with copy, research, production, art, and photo departments
  • Contribute to and help lead editorial ideas meetings

Desired skills & qualifications:

  • 5+ years of complex feature editing experience; familiarity with InCopy/K4 a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Deep connections with freelance writers and brand and celebrity publicity teams
  • Familiarity with and interest in the worlds of fashion, art, design and entertainment
  • Enthusiasm for and knowledge of what W stands for
