Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Rail/Operations Simulation Engineer to join our engineering team, focusing on the development and application of simulation models for rail operations. This role is pivotal in assessing and optimizing the performance of Intramotev's self-propelled rail vehicles within diverse customer environments and operational profiles, primarily utilizing GreenNet simulation software. You will contribute to our mission by providing crucial insights that inform design, deployment, and customer solutions for autonomous, battery-electric rail vehicles.
This position will be based out of St. Louis, MO. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct operational simulations: Perform detailed simulations of rail logistics and operations at potential customer sites using GreenNet to evaluate the performance and benefits of Intramotev's railcars.
- Develop and validate simulation models: Create, maintain, and validate simulation models that accurately represent customer operational profiles, rail networks, and vehicle interactions.
- Analyze simulation results: Interpret simulation outputs to provide insights into efficiency improvements, emissions reductions, safety enhancements, and congestion minimization.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders: Work closely with engineering, business development, and customer-facing teams to define simulation requirements and communicate findings.
- Support technical sales and proposals: Generate data and case studies derived from simulations to support customer proposals and pre-project approval documents.
- Identify areas for improvement: Based on simulation insights, recommend improvements to product design or operational strategies.
- Research and implement new simulation technologies: Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend potential applications and technology investments to enhance our solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and peer reviews.

About You:
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science.
- 3+ years of experience in operations research, simulation, or a related engineering field.
- Proficiency in simulation software, specifically GreenNet, for rail or logistics operations.
- Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.
- Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment or as an individual contributor.
- Fluent in both written and verbal English.
- U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with other discrete-event simulation software such as Simio or AnyLogic.
- Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, Unmanned Systems, or Mining.
- Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, or optimization techniques.
- Experience in technical consulting or customer-facing roles.
- Good understanding of system engineering processes.
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
