About the team

As Zillow continues to evolve and scale, onboarding is key to accelerate impact, retention, and culture. We’re looking for someone who can build an integrated, scalable onboarding practice for a remote workforce that meets people where they are—by role, geography, and workflow—and helps new hires hit the ground running.
This role is more than just “first week training.” It’s owning the first 90 days experience: clarity, connection, and continuous momentum. As an example, for Engineering this means mapping the journey from access requirements and environment setups, to first merge, deploy, and delivery. This role will also focus on gathering the functional needs of new hires for different technical
functions, creating the design and delivery of onboarding experiences for our rapidly growing Mexico-based technical team, ensuring new hires have the clarity, tools, and team connection to align with our tools, expectations and velocity targets. They will partner directly with technical leaders, managers, and our People Org teams to curate an experience for technical employees to hit the ground running.

About the role

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design, pilot, and scale of onboarding experiences for new hires—tailored by role, team, and geography (with emphasis on Mexico).

  • Map out the first 90-day journey: deliverables, expectations, learning pathways for each job family, feedback touchpoints, and success milestones and signals.

  • Co-create launch plans, goal templates, and manager tools that equip hiring teams to support new hires that align with our company-wide processes and philosophies.

  • Partner with SMEs and business leads to build or adapt functional content—mapping to what new hires need to do in their roles.

  • Define and measure onboarding success metrics—including time-to-first-merge, tool adoption, and manager-reported ramp speed—and use this data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Pilot multiple delivery formats (remote, async, peer-led, microlearning) and learn what’s most effective.

  • Diagnose friction points in existing onboarding processes across PEMD, especially in Mexico, and drive improvements.

  • Travel to Mexico City and various US cities to lead training programs.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • You believe that onboarding is a strategic function, not just a checklist—where early experiences shape long-term performance and engagement.

  • You have empathy and experience for new hires, especially in distributed and cross-cultural/international environments, and you think about assimilation as much as ramp.

  • You have experience working intech and understand product development workflows with the ability to identify where new hires hit friction. Ex: access and development requirements in tools like GitLab, AWS, Datadog, OpsGenie, and Databricks, user guidelines around brand standards, JIRA and Confluence standards, design standards, etc.

  • You’re comfortable in ambiguity, building MVPs, iterating based on feedback, and evolving the work.

  • You can partner with Product, Eng, Marketing, Design, HR, and country leadership to understand how teams really operate and help prioritize their needs.

  • You care about metrics, feedback, and outcomes—and see learning + enablement as a measurable design problem.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

  • 4+ years of experience in enablement, program design, learning operations, or internal operations in tech or product organizations.

  • Demonstrated success in directing or improving onboarding, ramp-up, or assimilation programs (for engineers, technical, or similarly complex roles).

  • Demonstrated fluency in technical collaboration - understanding technical onboarding blockers in areas like access, dev environments, CI/CD, etc, translating complex tools or workflows into clear documentation or learning content, navigating tech stack terms and product lifecycle basics.

  • Skilled in mapping learning journeys, designing workflows, and aligning learning to business outcomes.

  • Ability to partner across functions (Tech stakeholders, HR, Country leads, etc) with clarity, influence, and empathy.

  • Comfortable running pilots, iterating fast, and scaling what works.

  • Strong analytical mindset—experience with metrics, feedback loops, and performance measurement.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English

  • Bonus if you’ve worked in Mexico or in distributed, cross-cultural orgs, or built content aligned to regional or team-specific needs.
