Job Description

This role will be base in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco or Sunnyvale.

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

LinkedIn Talent Solutions is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented, and operationally minded Senior Sales Manager to lead growth across the Academic & Government (A&G) vertical in North America — spanning higher education, K-12, research institutions, federal, and state and local government agencies. In this influential role, you will own strategy to accelerate revenue growth, build strong client partnerships, and expand LinkedIn’s presence within two of our most mission-critical segments.

You will lead a high-performing team that partners with colleges, universities, school systems, research organizations, and public-sector agencies to modernize talent acquisition, workforce development, and learning. The gratifying result: enabling institutions to hire more effectively, develop career-ready students and employees, and gain insights into outcomes and labor-market trends.

If you’re excited to drive impactful change and shape the future of mission-driven industries, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Guide, coach, and inspire a team of managers and sales professionals serving Academic and Government customers across North America. Craft and implement strategies that drive both new customer acquisition and expansion across the A&G vertical.
  • Vertical Ownership & Scale: Contribute to full P&L performance for a ~$200M A&G business across Talent Solutions and Learning, with leadership scope including managing managers and scaling motions across ~60+ sellers through direct and dotted-line influence.
  • GTM Strategy & Execution: Build and execute vertical go-to-market strategies, including segment prioritization (higher ed, K-12, research, federal/state/local), territory design, resource allocation, and cross-functional partnership with product, marketing, partnerships, sales operations, and finance.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement and refine processes that streamline sales operations (CRM hygiene, pipeline standards, coverage models, deal reviews). Drive forecast accuracy, discipline and accountability, and enable sellers to focus on high-impact activities.
  • Customer Centricity: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with priority customers and executive decision-makers. Understand their missions and constraints, aligning LinkedIn solutions to deliver measurable outcomes across talent acquisition, workforce mobility, and learning.
  • Market Expertise: Navigate A&G macro dynamics — higher education enrollment shifts, federal workforce trends, and public-sector budget cycles — to protect and grow revenue. Use data-driven insights to position LinkedIn as a strategic partner.
  • Investment & Influence: Develop vertical investment cases and influence senior leaders on strategy, resources, and segment bets. Champion verticalization initiatives including overlays, channel partnerships, and segment-specific value propositions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales Ops and Finance on forecasting, headcount planning, and annual planning cycles. Collaborate across Product and Marketing to inform roadmap and campaigns tailored to A&G.
  • Inspirational Leadership: Set a clear vision, champion growth, and build trust. Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging where team members feel valued and driven to exceed expectations. Provide mentorship to help individuals realize their full potential.
  • Business Leadership: As a member of the LTS leadership community, shape strategies beyond your direct remit to elevate performance, enhance client success, and accelerate growth across Talent Solutions and Learning.
