Project Overview

We are seeking a skilled Linguistics professional specializing in English (New Zealand) linguistics or dialectology to work as a project consultant in our AI Labor Marketplace. This is not a full-time employment position — you will be engaged as an expert project consultant on a contract basis.

Location: New Zealand

Engagement: Part-time, project-based expert evaluation work

Work Type: Remote

This project engages linguistics experts to evaluate AI-generated text across multiple English dialects and regional standards. Contributors will assess grammatical correctness, naturalness, stylistic appropriateness, and dialect-specific usage in model outputs.

This is a project-based consultant role. Consultants will be paid on a per-project basis; hourly rates are estimates based on anticipated completion time. Consultants control their own schedule, provide their own tools, and may simultaneously provide services to other vendors/employers (subject to those vendors’ allowances).

Responsibilities:

Contributors will:

  • Evaluate AI-generated text for grammatical correctness and linguistic naturalness across English dialects
  • Compare multiple model outputs and select the most linguistically appropriate option
  • Assess dialect-specific usage across regional English variants
  • Identify syntactic, semantic, or stylistic issues in generated text
  • Provide concise written explanations supporting linguistic judgments

Expected Outcomes:

  • Completed evaluation tasks with structured ratings
  • Expert linguistic judgments regarding grammar and dialect appropriateness
  • Short written explanations supporting evaluation decisions

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or above at a university in New Zealand
  • Academic specialization in English linguistics, sociolinguistics, dialectology, or World Englishes
  • Native or near-native proficiency in New Zealand English
  • Experience conducting linguistic analysis or grammaticality judgments
  • Ability to clearly explain linguistic reasoning in written English
