Company Description
Longshot Space Technologies is at the cutting edge of low-cost space access and
hypersonics. We are developing a novel light-gas gun that accelerates mass over a long-distance. Using our technology, we plan on providing low-cost launch services for satellites, cargo, and future space infrastructure. We will enable a future where humans can reach for the stars.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will support the design, development, and testing of electronic systems critical to our kinetic launch technology. You’ll work across a variety of subsystems—from high-voltage actuation to embedded telemetry—helping to build and refine the hardware that powers our launch platform.
This is a hands-on role with opportunities for growth in both technical and leadership tracks. You’ll collaborate closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams including mechanical, fluids, and aerospace engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, testing, and integration of all electronic systems for the accelerator.
- Contribute to schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection for key subsystems.
- Participate in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware in lab and field environments.
- Support development and debugging of embedded firmware within our data acquisition systems.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for electronic and firmware systems.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure electrical systems meet performance and reliability goals.
- Support integration of electrical systems with mechanical, fluids, and software components.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 2–5 years of industry experience (or equivalent academic/research experience).
- Familiarity with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad) and circuit simulation tools
- Experience working with embedded systems (e.g., RP2040, ARM, STM32, or similar).
- Comfortable with lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
- Exposure to high-voltage systems, analog/mixed-signal design, or RF is a plus.
- Knowledge of best practices for EMC/EMI is a bonus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
What You’ll Gain
- Work on challenging, real-world engineering problems at the frontier of space technology.
- Mentorship from experienced engineers and the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility.
- A role in building and testing hardware with real-world impact.
- A dynamic startup environment with room for growth and innovation.
