Overview

The Sales Counselor connects with families interested in Parting Stone's solidification service to answer their questions, coach them through the process, follow up, and ultimately earn their trust to place an order. This role serves as the first point of contact for prospective customers considering both pre-need and at-need services.

Because many customer interactions occur during times of grief, this position requires emotional awareness, patience, empathy, clear communication, and the ability to support prospective customers through the sales process. The Sales Counselor will have the opportunity to make a great first impression on behalf of the company, so we want someone who believes in our service and will enthusiastically describe it over the phone and by video call multiple times a day.

The Sales Counselor uses software platforms including Aircall, HubSpot, Odoo, Google Workspace, AI tools, and Slack. This role reports to the Vice President of Sales and works closely with the Customer Service team to ensure a seamless handoff once orders are placed.

This role is well-suited for someone who is personable, empathetic, detail-oriented, and motivated by supporting a mission-driven organization that serves families during meaningful and sensitive moments in their lives. The ideal candidate has previous sales experience and the self-awareness to recognize signs of compassion fatigue and implement healthy coping strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Host scheduled 15-minute consultations with prospective inbound customers (2-6 per day)
  • Answer and return calls and voicemails from prospective customers in a timely manner
  • Maintain extremely detailed, consistent, and personalized follow-up with each prospective client throughout their decision-making process, which can take between two weeks and four months, requiring patience and persistence
  • Meet or exceed sales targets for closed Direct-to-Consumer and Pre-Need orders
  • Guide prospective customers through the solidification process, addressing questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate records of all prospect interactions in HubSpot CRM
  • Deliver concierge-level service by anticipating client needs, providing thoughtful and personalized guidance, and ensuring every interaction reflects a hospitality-first approach
  • Occasionally collaborate with the marketing team to ensure the backlog of potential Direct-to-Consumer clients is being nurtured within Parting Stone's broader marketing strategy
  • Handle both Direct-to-Consumer inbound leads and outbound outreach to previous customers or previous inquiries from the last two years of business
  • Provide unbiased, thoughtful support that reflects Parting Stone's commitment to an inclusive and respectful environment
  • Identify symptoms of personal emotional fatigue, implement coping strategies, and seek support when needed
  • Perform other duties as business needs evolve

Qualifications

  • Previous sales experience required
  • Previous experience in a concierge-level service profession preferred
  • Demonstrated use of CRM systems such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar platforms
  • At least 12 months of previous remote work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey patience, empathy, and professionalism
  • Strong organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven time-management and multitasking skills in fast-paced environments
  • Self-motivating with strong follow-through and accountability
  • Exceptional Video and audio quality.
  • Fluent in English
  • Previous experience in the death care space is a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This is a remote position that requires constant interaction with customers via phone, SMS, and video call. We expect you to maintain a professional, quiet workspace free from interruptions and with a solid and stable internet connection.

Expected Hours of Work

Monday - Friday (must be able to work US hours). Occasionally, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Location: Santa Fe, NM (in-office) or Remote. We welcome applications from both local and remote candidates.
